From the half sized Mini Cup stock cars driven by youth aged 8 to 16 years, to the two thirds sized Baby Grand stock cars that rocket around the same paved ovals just a fraction of a second off the pace of their full sized Super Late Models cousins, for the spectators and race fans celebrating the 25th anniversary of the Medicine Hat Speedway there was no reason to debate it, size does not matter.

The rare appearance of the three touring series of visually similar stock cars on the same program was part of the recent Weekend Extravaganza featuring the Mac's Super Late Model Series B & J Signs 150 at Medicine Hat.

Regardless of age or experience of the driver or size of their equipment, the pursuit of happiness on that day was down the same path. Go Fast. Just Turn Left.

Mini Cup Stock Cars

The Evolution Cupcar Series is an asphalt oval racing program for youth using the Mini Cup stock car specification. The cars are half scale late models featuring steel tube chassis with adjustable suspension, coil over shocks and disc brakes. Weighing in at just under 700 lbs, the 13 HP Honda powerplant can pace the car to 19 second laps at Auto Clearing Motor Speedway in Saskatoon, SK.

The touring series has 12 dates on its 2009 schedule and travels to all Canadian tracks on the Mac's Super Late Model Series schedule as well as Penticton Speedway in BC and Edmonton International Speedway in Wetaskiwin, AB.

Baby Grand stock cars derive their name from the former NASCAR Grand National stock car series. The cars feature an impressive power to weight ratio as demonstrated by sensational sophomore Cameron Hayley at the recent July 4th Firecracker 150 in Kalispell, MT. The Calgary driver drove the 1500 lbs, 125 HP Yamaha powered two thirds scale late model to a sizzling 14.386 qualifying lap. The current points leader has been on the podium for every race this season and has 8 victories in the 10 events.

The Baby Grand Stock Car Association of Canada has a challenging 14 date / 20 event schedule that opened at the Bull Ring in Las Vegas on May 1st and closes on Oct 17th in California at the Shasta Speedway in Anderson visiting all the paved ovals on the Mac's Series tour.
