"Why did the 55 have to go to the back after getting drilled, why did the 17 have to go to the back for avoiding a turned car, why did the 14 get to maintain position in the same situation?" But if ya'll don't care what the fans think, then I guess that's your problem."
in the case that 2 cars racing for position are involved in a caution, both cars go to the back. the rulebook does give the race director the option to give a position back to a car that was a victim of an obvious deliberate violation, or in the case of the 17 and the 14 at the end, the fault of a single car spin that wasn't racing them for position. the leniency was given to both the 17 and the 14. the 17 had to pit to change a flat tire, and was placed at the rear, which is consistant with another rule that states any car pitting must restart at the rear. the 22 was not black flagged for having loose body panels, the 22 was sent the the pit to correct a radio communications problem that was considered to be a possible safety concern.
the 5, 33, 17, and 6 generally do not race in the middle of the only 2 safe racing grooves while another, faster, competitor is attempting to pass them. therefore they rarely get jacked up. all of them are indeed great drivers.
feel free to ask any questions you want, i may not always have the answer, but always know where to find them.
