The rules are simply designed for the crate cars...cut and dry. Argue if you want, but not many teams have ran both open and crate engines there. (17,55x,24,77). The point is you can run longer on a set of tires with a crate then an open. I know this first hand, tires are my job. There are lots of 200 lap races ran in the northwestern states, most have a break at 100. I wonder why they would all use that format. There seems to always be guys on here saying (i know a guy...or I talk to a team...Or I was 5th cousins of this guy who knows someone with an open motor who won the Kentucky Derby). If you've got info from race teams or drivers and are willing to put half the info out there..put it all out or don't put out at all!! You wanna get info on 200 lap races 3 drivers come to mind that may have the knowledge (17,24,49) all made 200 lap races.
But thats just my opinion
